99centdesigns for cheap logo design
Ok, this is a clone of 99designs. There’s a max charge for a logo design of 99 cents. It would be a very fast turn around (about 2 hours max) for people with no design skills that are in a hurry to get a site out and need a logo fast. It gives aspiring designers the chance to pump out simple designs and maybe make a buck or two. Entries would be limited to 10 and moderated by the initial poster to eliminate any cr#p! It’s cheap and cheerful and may only involve text logos but it’s up to the designer on what they wanted to produce. It would be a good test platform to hone your skills before moving on to bigger and better things. ps. 99centlogos.com is free..
mood music website
don’t know if such a site exists, but it would be cool to have a website which gathers data from twitter, facebook etc… and senses your mood, then recommends songs or plays them for you… so let’s say i mention ‘happy’ on twitter… happy songs are then played to me perhaps using last.fm or something like that. i could then rate songs and categorise them and over time, i’d build up a huge database of favourite songs which are played to reflect my mood.
online will
Plenty of webmasters own more than one site… they also have plenty of accounts (email, social networks, servers etc..). If they die, what happens to those accounts and sites? Most webmasters are young (internet only really being around the past 10-15 years) so the need for an online ‘will’ service will be great in years to come. Passwords, accounts, sites etc… can then be passed on to loved ones rather than be forgotten about.
reminder to unplug usb when logging off
I see it happening in college ALL the time. People have tiny little usbs, some of the PCs are dodgy as hell so only usb ports at the back of the PCs will work. When class ends, they log off, go on their way and forget their usb key. A small application could be created which searches for any usb devices connected when a user logs off or shuts down. If a usb device is attached, a reminder could be displayed on screen.
Epaper from the classroom
Within the next 5 years all school kids should be able to have all their textbooks stored on a small mini computer with an epaper screen, this could be very lightweignt, less than 1kg and could be eventually updated so notes could be taken and stored. There could also be wireless feed from the teacher so there’s a fully interactive lesson.
Mini – don’t loose me ringing device
This idea is for a small ringing device that can be added to eg. your bunch of keys. It would just contain a sim card and very minimal electronics to function. You can then ring the device to find your bunch of keys. It might be keyring specific at first and be about the size of a usb pen but this could be evolved to become much smaller over time. I’m always misplacing my keys and thinking, at least if it was my phone i can ring it!
